Cloneable checks your trace as you work. Problems show in three places: the Issues panel on the left of the map, a banner on the pole or midspan card, and a tag on the pins involved.
The Issues panel
The panel on the left has two tabs:
- Issues lists every problem on the job, with a count.
- Wires lists every traced wire. Search by wire type or pole, and show or hide wires on the map.
Issues are grouped by how much they matter, then in the order you walk the line:
Click a row to open where it is. A pole issue opens that pole’s card. A span issue, like crossed wires, opens the whole span: both poles and the midspans between, so both ends are in view.
When your configuration exports to SPIDAcalc, the panel also runs the export’s checks live, so you see export problems while you’re still at the pole.
Dismiss an issue
Hover a row and click the x (Not an issue) to hide it. Blockers can’t be dismissed.
Dismissed issues are remembered for this job in this browser. Click Show dismissed at the bottom of the panel to see them, and Restore to bring one back. If the facts behind an issue change, it comes back on its own.
Banners on the cards
When you open a card with a problem, a banner sits over the photo:
- A few words saying what’s wrong, such as “Primary (green) and Primary (blue) cross”.
- One button that fixes it, such as Swap them, Merge wires or Land on followed by the pole name.
- When there’s no automatic fix, a line telling you what to do next instead.
- A chevron (More about this) that opens the full sentence and Not an issue.
One banner shows at a time. If there are more, click +N more on the banner to see them all, and Show less to fold them back.
After a fix runs, a message confirms it with Undo, in case it wasn’t what you wanted.
Flagged pins
The pins involved get a tag on their label, and a dashed ring in each wire’s color shows where it should be.
Common issues and how to fix them
Crossed wires
Two wires are in one order at one pole and the opposite order at the next, so they cross in the span. SPIDAcalc reports them crossing too.
Cloneable compares primaries, neutrals and secondaries:
- On crossarms, by where each wire sits across the arm (side to side).
- In vertical construction, such as racks or pins on the pole, by height (top to bottom).
Fix: click Swap them. The two wires trade pins at one pole, and past it each wire follows the pin it now lands on. If the next span crosses the same two wires, that span is straightened too.
A neutral and a primary crossing usually means a pin is labeled with the wrong wire type, not that the wires really swap. The banner says they switch places on this span and the pins say Wrong type?. Click each ringed pin, check its type against the photo, and change the wrong one. There’s no Swap button for this case.
If a landing you just made creates a crossing, a message names it right away with a Swap button.
Traced twice
Two wires run between the same pins on a span: one conductor was traced twice.
Fix: click Merge wires. They become one wire, keeping the longer trace and its end marks.
Two wires on one pin
One pin holds two different wires on the same span. One of those landings is wrong.
Fix: click Remove duplicate landing (or Remove later landing), then land that wire again on its own pin.
Wire stops short or never landed
A wire reaches a pole on its span but isn’t landed on a pin there. Often the wire was traced to the midspan only.
Fix: when the pole has a free pin of the same type, click Land on followed by the pole name. Otherwise, tap the pole’s photo where the wire lands. If the wire really ends here, open its pin and click Line ends here.
Related groups in the panel: Never landed, Stops where the line goes on and Missing on the next pole.
Midspan wires on one arm far apart
Wires on one crossarm hang at about the same height at midspan. If their midspan heights read more than 24 in apart, a midspan tap is probably on the wrong wire.
Fix: open the midspan. When Cloneable finds a labeling that fits, click Swap them or Relabel. Otherwise, drag the ringed tap onto the right wire. These show in the panel as Midspan labels to check.
Two insulators on one spot
Two insulators sit at the same place on an arm. SPIDAcalc can’t analyze the pole.
Fix: click Move apart, then fine-tune the position on the arm if needed.
